WHAT IS EQUINE ASSISTED LEARNING?

PERSON-CENTRED

We adopt a person-centred facilitation style in our sessions. We believe that everybody has a subconscious understanding of what they need and through equine assisted learning we provide space and time for each individual to meet their needs.

We develop a new learning programme for each individual depending on their aims and objectives. Our facilitators lead sessions and use communication techniques that allow a learner to move into self-directed learning.

EXPERIENTIAL

Equine assisted learning champions experiential learning. During our sessions we provide the opportunity for learners to have experiences that enhance academic learning, self-awareness, reflection and energy level regulation.

Facilitators use specialist communication techniques to encourage individuals to come to their own realisations about how to ask for what they need and manage different scenarios and stimuli.

FOR EVERYONE

EAQ Grass Roots focuses on providing alternative education sessions for children and young people who are not in full time mainstream education or need additional support, but we can help others too.

Get in touch if you are interested in what equine assisted learning sessions could do for you or someone you know. As an organisation, EAQ has centres across the UK who facilitate sessions for people aged 5 to 101!

OUTDOOR AND NATURAL

We hold our sessions outdoors and use everything that nature provides us. We encourage learners to meet their needs by connecting with the natural environment and interacting with the animals in a free way.

EAQ Grass Roots is located on a small farm where there is a variety of outdoor spaces for learners to explore, investigate and learn in. Our sessions predominantly take place in the outdoors, but we do have undercover and indoor spaces too.
